Supporting Communities to create sustainable futures in Tanzania, East Africa
The Freedom Project TZ is an Australian based humanitarian project, working in collaboration with the Tanzanian communities. Our mission is to empower disadvantaged communities in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro and rural areas of Tanzania, East Africa. The project was named after the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro called ‘Uhuru Peak’. ‘Uhuru’ is Swahili for ‘Freedom’.
All our projects work in partnership with local villages and families, building capacity and community development to create a healthy and sustainable future.
Our focus is education, micro-business, women’s empowerment and housing.
Our passion is to see a world of unity, equality, love and compassion for all humans!
How We Support The Community
Education
‘We help provide children living in disadvantaged communities with educational opportunities’.

Education
‘We help provide children living in disadvantaged communities with educational opportunities’.
School Sponsorship
We strongly believe in the power of education in fighting poverty.
It is the right of every child to receive quality education.
We help children with schooling opportunities in government and private schools.
University Opportunites
Education is the key to escape the poverty cycle!
Meet Calvin, he used to be a mountain porter on Mt Kilimanjaro, he was living in very challenging conditions. He has been sponsored & studying at University, he is now in 3rd year Bachelor Degree of Wildlife Management.
His goal is to work in conservation to protect the Wildlife of Africa.
Thank you to his wonderful sponsor – a dream come true!
Uniforms
We provide school uniforms to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. School uniforms are a mandatory requirement in the Tanzanian Education system.
We aim to provide all children at our schools with full school uniform and shoes. Many families in this region are living in poverty, so the cost of a uniform can be almost impossible. We supply shirts, trousers, dresses, jumpers, socks and shoes.
Stationery & Books
Many schools have inadequate equipment, learning resources and stationery supplies.
We work on providing basic school supplies including, pens, pencils, paper, booklets, textbooks and all learning resources.
School Lunch Program
The Freedom Projects goal is to provide 1 nutritious hot meal for the children each day at school. We provide grains, beans, vegetables for the cook to create healthy lunches for each child. For some kids this is the only meal that may eat that day.
Sports Equipment
We supply sports equipment, including netball hoops, Soccer nets, and various balls to encourage sport and fitness.
“Education is the key to escape the poverty cycle!”

Women’s Empowerment
‘Support a woman, support a community’
Empowering women with the skills and training to create a more sustainable future.
Women are the drivers and backbone of communities. Through education and training, we can transform the lives of women and their children living in disadvantaged communities.
We connect with women, so they can create income generating opportunities to provide life-essentials, including food, clothing, shelter and education, for their families, and build a more secure and sustainable future. It inspires the education of their own children, and in this way, we can empower and educate whole communities for generations to come.

PIGS, CHICKENS, GOATS & COWS
We support families with livestock for breeding. Pigs can produce up to 8 piglets which can be sold at the market. Chickens are a productive small business opportunity for women producing eggs for the local markets. Milking cows can provide a good income for families by selling fresh milk. We also provide grain to support the growth and development of the enterprise.
BUILDING PROJECT
Our building project aims at supporting small villages with infrastructure and improved living conditions. We supply bricks, iron roofing, timber and building equipment to assist families to build long standing houses. The rainy season creates many challenges in the villages as the houses are made of mud and eventually leak and wash away in the harsh conditions. Our goal is to buy a brick making machine for the village to supply bricks onsite, while also making an income by selling bricks to other projects.
